01 Key places of Leh

Leh Market: The artifacts and souvenirs are often displayed on the road-side stalls and it is the best market to get Tibetan handicraft items like Pashmeena wool dresses, Prayer wheels, Traditional Ladakhi jewellery which are genuine.
Leh Palace: The ancient Leh Palace which is just 5 km away from the Leh is under the control of Archeological Survey of India (ASI) and offers a panoramic view of the Stok Kangri and Zanskar ranges across the Indus Valley.
Shanti Stupa: The highest white beautiful stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh district is the best place to admire the beauty of Himalayas. It was built by the Japanese monks to promote world peace. Don’t forget to do a little meditation besides the Stupa which might help you get what you came here for. The nighttime view is even better.
Sangam Point: One of the most famous spots in Leh which is the meeting point of the Indus and Zanskar is known as the Sangam Point. It is an amazing sight for the onlookers as the water of the Indus River is very warm and the Zanskar is frozen.
Hemis Monastery: The Hemis Monastery is visible during a Leh Ladakh road trip. The distance between Hemis and Leh is 40kms and easily accessible by any vehicle. Interior decorated by numerous gold statues and stupas enhanced by the precious yet rare stones is worth visiting.
Hemis National Park: The Hemis National Park known for some uncommon species like the bharal and the snow panther includes the catchments of Markha, Rumbak and Sumdah nalas.
Namgyal Monastery: There is another monastery which was built by King Tashi Namgyal after the reunification of upper and lower Ladakh and triumph over Hor.
Donkey Sanctuary: Donkey sanctuary is one of the most unique sanctuaries in the region. This sanctuary is set up by a private citizen in order to provide a home to donkeys that were left homeless after they had served their use in other establishments.
Spituk Gompa: If you are searching for some different spot to visit in Ladakh then Spituk Gompa is place for you. You will find the most attractive structure Skudung Lhakhang inside the fundamental religious community complex.
Diskit Monastery: Located on a high plain with the Shylok river flowing peaceably by, this monastery is the largest monastery in the Ladakh. A grand 100-foot statue of the Maitreya Buddha at the entrance to the monastery is an awe-inspiring picture.
Shey Monastery: It is Located 15 kilometers south of Leh, the complex houses the Shey Palace and the Shey monastery. The palace is mostly in ruins today but the monastery is still worth a visit. The monastery houses a grand statue of Shakyamuni Buddha.

02. Khardung La Pass

It is the world’s highest motorable pass which is important to India from the Military point of View. Reaching Khardung-La is a dream to not just Bikers but all tourists as it gives a nerve racking experience for a traveler.

03. Nubra Valley

Nubra valley is a place that cannot be missed if you are travelling to Ladakh in the summer as it is rich in sightseeing opportunities. Trekking, camping and camel safaris at Hunder, ATV Ride at Khalsar, Zimskhang Palace, Ensa Gompa and Yarab Tso Lake are major attractions. The sand dunes of the Nubra Valley give you Arabian Nights like experience.

04. Magnetic Hill

One of the most wonderful natural landmarks in Ladakh, the Magnetic Hill is a “gravity hill’, capable of enacting a unique optical illusion that baffles tourists every time they view it. At a particular place marked on the road here Vehicle automatically go upwards at a speed of 20 km/h (in Engine off Condition). This unique optical illusion is a rare phenomenon and only a few places in the world produce it. You can’t stop yourself from praising God for his creativity of nature.

05. Pangong Lake

Set against the intense blue sky, Pangong Tso is most scenic and perfect destination for Photography and enjoy the clear natural water Lake. Camping around Pangong Lake will give you some spectacular views of the lake.

06. Alchi Monastery

One of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh, Alchi Monastery includes three major shrines that are important to Buddhism- the Dukhang, the Sumtsek and the Temple of Manjushri. Wooden artifacts are an important part of the monastery decor. Currently, it is under the Archaeological survey of India.

07. Aryan Village

Aryan Village is located in Bhema 160 Kms from Leh. Historian considered that when Alexandar’s army that came to India in 327 B.C. returned to Greece left behind some troops in the Gilgit area and so Greece is the region where the Dard originated The inhabitants of the existing villages around khalatse are of the dard race. Over the course of many years, they mixed with the cultures of the Tibetan race. But the people of these villages still believe and worship the deities of that time.

09. Lamayuru Monastery

This oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery is maintained by the Red Hat sect of Buddhism. Wall paintings rich in colour, thangkas, murals and scriptures make the visit to the monastery worthwhile. This is best place for trekking and hiking expedition.

10. Kargil (Kashmir - Leh Highway)

Kargil is the second biggest town of Ladakh became popular after a war was fought over the region between India and Pakistan.

11. Drass Valley

Drass Valley gives you an exhilarating experience and is the must visit place. It offers amazing sights where you can’t click a bad pic.

12. Zanskar Valley

Zanskar valley is sandwiched between the Great Himalayan ranges and the Zanskar mountain ranges. The valley is closed for about eight months in a year due to heavy snowfall in the region.

13. Tso Kar Lake

It is Also called ‘White Lake', it is one of the three high height saltwater lakes in Ladakh and is extremely famous for dark necked cranes come to Tso Kar to lay eggs.

14. Tso Moriri

At an approximate distance of 250 kilometers from Leh, Tso Moriri offers gorgeous panoramic views. Camping around this beautiful lake to enjoy scenic views of nature is something can’t be missed. It is the largest purest water body of Himalaya is a sacred lake for local villagers and due to this swimming and boating is prohibited here.
